General Maintenance Technician (Handyman)

Location: Crowsnest Pass Golf Club, Blairmore, Alberta

Reports to: General Manager

Position Type: Part-Time / Seasonal (typically 10–25 hours per week, with flexibility based on operational and project needs)

Compensation: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour (based on experience)

Overview

Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is seeking a General Maintenance Technician (Handyman) to join our team. This role is responsible for completing a wide range of hands-on maintenance, repair, and facility support tasks across the property.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is reliable, practical, and capable of working independently while following direction and priorities established by the General Manager.

This position plays an important role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall appearance of the Club while supporting golf, food & beverage, and event operations.

Role Expectations & Structure

  • Work independently to identify and complete day-to-day maintenance tasks
  • Align all work with direction, priorities, and expectations set by the General Manager
  • Maintain a proactive approach while ensuring consistency with operational standards
  • Adapt to changing priorities based on operational needs

Scope & Approval

  • All repairs, purchases, and project work must be approved by the General Manager
  • No purchasing authority beyond pre-approved routine materials

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs and maintenance on Club buildings, equipment, and facilities
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor HVAC tasks
  • Assist with small projects and general property upkeep
  • Support event setup, tear-down, and facility resets
  • Assist with seasonal opening and closing of the facility
  • Assist with coordinating contractors under direction of the General Manager
  • Identify and address maintenance issues proactively
  • Report safety hazards, deficiencies, and repair needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Hours of Work

Typically, 10–25 hours per week depending on operational needs. Hours may increase during peak periods or project work and may decrease during slower periods. Flexibility is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work overhead
  • Climb ladders and work in confined or elevated spaces
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • A pre-employment physical abilities assessment may be required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Team player
  • Previous maintenance experience
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and repairs
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Self-starter able to work within defined direction
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Front of House (Food & Beverage)

Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is seeking Front of House team members to join our team for the golf season. Positions include Server, Bartender, Server Supervisor, and Busser.

This team is responsible for delivering friendly, professional, and efficient food and beverage service to members, guests, and tournament participants in a fast-paced clubhouse environment. Duties include taking orders, serving food and beverages, maintaining clean dining areas, and supporting daily service and special events.

The ideal candidate has a strong focus on customer service, works well independently and as part of a team, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous serving or hospitality experience preferred

  • Valid ProServe certification (required for servers, bartenders, supervisors)

  • POS experience considered an asset

Wages: $15.00 – $22.00/hour + gratuities (depending on role & experience)

Back of House (Kitchen)

Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is seeking Back of House team members for the golf season. Positions include Lead Line Cook, Line Cook, and Kitchen Assistant.

This team is responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting efficient kitchen operations during daily service and events.

The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, works well independently and in a team setting, and can perform in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous kitchen experience required for cooks

  • Leadership experience an asset for Lead Line Cook

  • Food Safety Certification required (or willingness to obtain)

Pro Shop & Golf Operations

Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is seeking team members for Pro Shop & Golf Operations. Positions include Pro Shop Assistant, Greeter/Starter, Back Shop Employee, and Golf Course Marshal.

These roles are responsible for delivering excellent guest service while supporting golf operations. Duties may include checking in golfers, managing tee times, retail sales, monitoring pace of play, assisting with carts and equipment, and ensuring a positive guest experience on and off the course.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a customer-first attitude, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous golf or customer service experience considered an asset

  • POS experience an asset (Pro Shop)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Wages: $15.00 – $18.00/hour (depending on role & experience)

Turf Care (Grounds Maintenance)

Crowsnest Pass Golf Club is seeking Turf Care team members for the golf season. Positions include Turf Grounds Laborer.

This role is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance of the golf course, including mowing, course setup, and general groundskeeping duties to ensure high-quality playing conditions.

The ideal candidate is reliable, works well independently and in a team, and is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • No previous experience required

  • Landscaping or turf maintenance experience considered an asset

  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work

Wages: $15.00 – $17.50/hour (depending on experience)
